CSX Is Making It Easy for Employees to Work and Walk

Washington, D.C. — In an effort to promote employee health and wellness, CSX is conducting a Walking Workstation Pilot Program. Workstations will be installed at locations within the system. This initiative will provide employees with an easy way to burn calories during the day without having to leave the office.

Each workstation consists of a treadmill and an adjustable height desk. At a maximum treadmill speed of 2 MPH, users are able to walk while typing, talking, or reading. Features including an emergency cutoff switch help to insure a safe experience for users and nearby co-workers.

“The workstations provide an excellent alternative to getting in some exercise during the cold winter months or when you just can’t get away from the office. This is yet another tool that employees can use to develop a healthy lifestyle,” said Ken Glover Director of Health, Wellness and Ergonomics.

Workstations can currently be found in Jacksonville at the Data Center and Customer Service Offices and in Washington, DC at the Federal Legislation Office. Future workstation will be deployed based on the success of these pilot locations.
