Louisville, KY — Thank you CSX, for your continued support of the children and families of The Cabbage Patch and our programs.

Most of us have memories of summer camping experiences. They were times of exploration, excitement and challenge. Your gift has helped ensure that 41 at-risk children at the Cabbage Patch had that same kind of opportunity this summer.

Camp isn't just about fun times. CSX's core value is also one of our shared beliefs, that Safety is a Way of Life. Our personal safety education, coupled with environmental safety, were lessons taught in our summer camps. Our goal was to teach and stress to urban youth the importance of respecting the environment and others who may come behind them.

We integrated environmentally friendly values that young people will hopefully use throughout their lifetime:

  • Fishing & Canoeing Camps taught about preserving natural resources and protecting our water
  • Wilderness Exploration & Safari Adventure Camps taught environmental stewardship and personal safety
  • Horse & Bike Camp fostered an understanding and safe respect for riding near railroads

This summer at-risk children and youth who live within the "concrete jungle" and have little to no green spaces in their environment learned basic environmental care, conservation and safety. CSX's generosity made it possible for these boys and girls to embrace new experiences, visit new places, make new friends and grow in self-confidence.
