Newark, DE — In an effort to stem trespassing-related incidents at the University of Delaware campus, CSX created a student-targeted safety campaign.

As part of the efforts, CSX distributed t-shirts that read, I Didn't Get Hit by a Train Today at both community and University events. In addition, promotional staff walked the events, tapping people on the shoulder and handing them cards that featured a CSX locomotive on the front and the message, Trains don't make a sound when they come up behind you on the back.

CSX also gave out more than 3,000 t-shirts during basketball games that read The Hens Will Rock You on the front and Trains Will Clock You on the back.

The campaign was well received by the community, the University and even the parents of a student who tragically lost her life on the tracks. "People gave her directions to follow the railroad tracks home, and she wasn't aware of the danger." Said Bill Payne, whose daughter, UD freshman Rachel Payne was killed by a train in 2004 while walking home from a fraternity party. "I think anything would have been better, offensive or not. I would have liked her to have known about it."
