CSX Grant to Fund Needed Hospital Equipment

Willard, OH

CSX recently presented a $20,000 grant to Mercy Willard Hospital. The funds will be used to purchase needed equipment for the facility, including an adult/pediatric GlideScope and several emergency crash carts.

CSX Sends a Taste of Home to the Troops

Jacksonville, FL

Working closely with the Jacksonville Gateway Council Girl Scouts, the drive collected money to buy, pack and distribute Girl Scout cookies to service members in Iraq and Afghanistan.

CSX is proud to be a National Leadership Sponsor of City Year, an organization that unites young people of all backgrounds for a year of full-time service, giving them the skills and opportunities to change the world, make a difference in the lives of children and transform schools and neighborhoods in 19 U.S. locations and Johannesburg, South Africa.

National Safe Place

Safe Place is the first step to help for any youth in crisis or at risk. This community collaboration program, operated by youth shelters and youth serving agencies makes it possible for any youth to access help at locations displaying the Safe Place sign.

At CSX, our philosophy on giving is an extension of our core values, with people and their safety at the forefront. Each year, CSX provides more than $6 million in financial assistance to local and national agencies and organizations that are equally committed to making a difference.

Apply for Moves

As one of the nation's leading rail and intermodal transportation companies, CSX Intermodal is in a unique position to assist in the transport of goods from one place to another. Nonprofit organizations that lack the resources to move their goods can apply for help from CSX's "Keep on Moving" program.

CSX recently presented a $20,000 grant to Mercy Willard Hospital to purchase needed equipment for the facility.

$30,000 — Conservation Fund's Go Zero Program for Lake Ophelia National Wildlife Refuge

2010 – Apr 30 in Avoyelles, LA

CSX helped The Conservation Fund's Go Zero program address two of the nation's top environmental challenges — habitat loss and climate change — by planting 3,137 native seedlings across 10 acres at Lake Ophelia National Wildlife Refuge in Louisiana.

$5,000 — Honor Flight Northwest Ohio

Community volunteers will join CSX, City Year, and the Alliance for Community Trees to plant trees in the Radnor Glen parcel.

CSX & City Year Complete Dramatic Transformation of Riverdale Community Center

Jul 31 in Riverdale, IL

The organizations installed fencing, created a picnic area for seniors, constructed dugouts and backstops for the ball fields, painted portable murals for the interior of the center, and planted 44 trees.

CSX & City Year Clean Up Collinwood Neighborhood

May 15 in Cleveland, OH

In partnership with City Year, CSX cleaned up a two-block area of the Collinwood neighborhood by removing debris in abandoned and overgrown lots surrounding the Collinwood High School.

CSX Poster Contest Helps Kids Understand Safety

May 27 in Jamaica Plain, MA

More than 300 children in grades 3–5 participated in the activity, visually communicating ways to behave safely at school, at home and in the neighborhood.

City Year Philadelphia

Thanks to City Year Philadelphia,

  • 439 students received in-class academic support,
  • 105 students were enrolled in two after-school programs,
  • 96 students received Extended Day Tutoring, an academic enrichment program allowing for a more hands-on approach to learning,
  • 35 students completed 140 hours of community service, and
  • 47 parents participated in parent outreach programs.
